Brain Injury NZ Central Districts Region, through our Liaison Service, provides a range of services that include:
- Support and information for people with brain injury and their families so they can better understand the implications of the injury.
- Regular social rehabilitation support groups for people affected by brain injury. In addition, various social activities are run throughout the year, for example Christmas & midwinter dinners, movie & indoor bowling outings
- Assistance and advocacy support in liaising with ACC, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Development, Work & Income and other government or associated agencies
- Information & assistance to obtain appropriate professional help or services required
- Information & assistance to access Outward Bound courses and sponsored holiday accommodation, subject to availability.
- Educational presentations to workplaces, organisations, schools and community groups about the causes, symptoms and effects of brain injury and ways to prevent brain injury.
Early intervention and understanding of the issues surrounding brain injury can make a crucial difference for the future of the affected individual, and help them to become an integrated member of any business, organisation or community group.
