CanTeen was formed over 20 years ago to ensure that no young person has to go through a cancer experience alone.

Our mission is to support, develop and empower our Members, who might be Patients, Siblings or Bereaved Siblings. CanTeen provides vital pyscho social support for what is known as the 'lost generation'.

Because recovery rates of adolescents lag behind those of children and adults, we also act as an advocate with the government and medical community to ensure that the unique needs of young people are met throughout their cancer experience.

CanTeen is based on the notion of Peer Support, we believe the best people to support those going through a cancer experience are those who have been through a similar situation. Our Members, with the support of staff, are involved in the governance and development of CanTeen.

Winning a donation from Sovereign will help us achieve:

CanTeen would use the money to fund our educational and recreational programmes nationwide. CanTeen runs weekend workshops on Grief, Sexuality and Fertility Education, Leadership Training and Peer Support as well as recreational programmes such as camps and relaxation weekends. These programmes allow for Members to meet others in similar situations and provide skills and support. They also allow for some much needed fun and enjoyment in what can be a very difficult time.
