Family Help Trust’s special expertise is in providing child abuse prevention services to infants and children living in high-risk environments. Initially established in 1990, the Family Help Trust aim is to confront the causes of family dysfunction and to provide vulnerable families with the skills they need to improve their lives and those of their children and by so doing break the cycles of inter-generational dysfunction.
The inability of NZ to prevent the serious maltreatment of child abuse has become a national disgrace. Over a number of years Family Help Trust has sought to provide strong evidence of service effectiveness. We are proud to now be in the position of highlighting our excellent results in a series of external evaluations, audits and reports all of which are available either on our web site or on enquiry. Funders and donors should expect nothing less!
Professionally trained and qualified social workers, with small caseloads provide intensive, long-term, multi-faceted, child focused family-based support which is strategically designed to target a wide range of problem areas including abusive parenting and patterns of anti-social behaviours and long standing family functioning difficulties. Successful interventions can provide families with the support and skills needed to avoid the traps of violence, crime, substance use, and dependence on the state.

The provision of twelve months service provision for three infants, up to 10 other children/siblings, parents and extended family members all of which benefit directly from our intensive family support services.
