Our mission is to give Kidney Kids the best life possible, to offer their families the best support and information available and educate all New Zealander's on the early warning signs of Kidney and Urinary Tract Disease.
Kidney Kids of NZ Inc currently have over 1,200 families on our database and this number continues to grow on a daily basis. We organise support group meetings, coffee mornings, educational evenings, and special events. Our biggest events each year are the annual camps. These camps are especially for kids who are in end-stage renal failure or who have had transplants.
Winning a donation from Sovereign will help us achieve:
We would use the money to help fund the costs of our two annual Kidney Kids Camps. These camps are vital in providing a safe and supportive environment for our Kidney Kids who often can not attend normal school camps due to illnesses and medication requirements. It also allows them to interact with other Kidney Kids within the same age group and participate in a range of activities designed to foster independence, raise self-confidence and promote interaction with peers in team building exercises.
The first camp is run for 8-15 years olds and the second camp is for 16-21 year old big Kidney Kids. All of these Kidney Kids come from various areas throughout New Zealand with all expenses paid for by Kidney Kids. They all have either had a Kidney transplant or are at end stage renal failure.
Our camps are one of the only chances that our Kidney Kids would get to participate in these activities as we have medical professionals on site at all times to provide support. Please feel free to look at photos from our most recent two camps on our website www.kidneykids.org.nz
