The vision of Project K is to impact positively on the lives of all young New Zealanders.
Our aim is to maximise the potential of New Zealand youth through the delivery of Project K programmes which build self efficacy, and confidence in young people across the country.
Project K is a Foundation for Youth Development programme for 13 to 15 year olds, the key stage of a young person's life where decisions made have a huge impact on their future success. Project K has been running in New Zealand for over 12 years, it is an evidenced based programme, having undergone an extensive evaluation by the Ministry for Social Development as well as leading universities.
The programme is comprised of three main components, built of holistic and intensive strategies and implemented over 14 months.
Project K is delivered throughout New Zealand under licence by charitable Trusts.

Project K incorporates three leading international youth development strategies, Adventure Therapy, Community Participation and Mentoring.
Stage 1 - 'Wilderness Adventure': for three weeks students learn goal setting, perseverance, self-reliance and self-knowledge in an outdoors environment. After a period at camp students go on a journey that includes challenging activities such as kayaking, abseiling, tramping, camping and mountain biking.
Stage 2 -'Community Challenge': where students adapt their wilderness learning to their everyday lives and their community through exploring local resources and developing and implementing a community project. They also set academic, health, fitness and personal goals to achieve within a year. The cost of these two stages of the programme is $4,000 per student.
Stage 3 - 'Mentoring': a programme where carefully screened and trained mentors are paired with students for 12 months to support them to sustain the positive changes they have made in the first two stages and to achieve their self-set goals. The cost to recruit, train and support a mentor at this stage of the programme is $2,000 per student.
We would utilise this funding to support the ongoing competent delivery of all three components of this programme across the country.
