Read more about The Nurture Foundation for Reproductive Research:
Nurture supports research that will help more New Zealand couples have children. Through fundraising activities Nurture supports research into infertility, miscarriage, stillbirth and serious pregnancy complications.
Our goal is to find new ways to overcome reproductive problems - and help to ensure the safe arrival of a healthy, full-term baby for more New Zealand couples. Currently 600 babies are stillborn in NZ every year, and one in five mothers is at risk of serious pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia, preterm birth or fetal growth restriction. Research aims to predict which pregnancies are at risk, so that treatment can be offered to protect the lives and health of mother and baby.
One in six couples experience infertility and one in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage. Research is aimed at finding causes, preventions and treatments so that more couples can nurture a child of their own.
The Trust was founded in 1992 by Sir Graham Liggins, and renamed The Nurture Foundation in 2006. Nurture supports research undertaken at leading universities in New Zealand.
