The objective of the Trust is to fund specialist educational programmes, vital in improving the learning development of these fantastic children. Ultimately this will enable them to integrate fully into the community, living productive and dignified lives. It can make the difference between them being productive, contributing members of society, rather than being dependant on public resources for their entire lives. The impact of this education has been well documented in various international university studies - it is literally life changing. With assistance we can remove financial barriers for families, so that the children can benefit from the program. Without financial assistance many of the families would be unable to afford the cost of the speech therapy programs. Down Syndrome is the most common chromosomal disability in New Zealand. These kids live in our communities the length and breadth of our nation.

Our work is ongoing, and children attend speech therapy sessions every fortnight. The benefits of children with Down Syndrome in attending this speech therapy is
greater independence in their life as a result of early intervention. We also hold an annual fundraising event, called Share the Dream where all proceeds raised
go directly to benefitting our members (www.sharethedream.co.nz).  Your support will have a direct impact on the lives of families living in New Zealand, and in your community. 100% of your donation goes directly to fund qualified educational professionals so you know your vote is being put to good use.

Winning a donation from Sovereign will help us achieve:

We would provide financial assistance to families with Children with Down Syndrome, so that the children can participate in the speech therapy program which in unaffordable to most families. Children participating in this speech program are receiving the best possible start in life, the outcome for the children is that they are achieving their potential, developing communication skills that are invaluable for them to communicate with others.

We, as New Zealanders are proud to live in a society which makes education available to all. Unfortunately the extra education that makes such a profound difference to these little guys in not available through the public education system. Because they come into the world with a distinct disadvantage they need an extra leg up in order to reach their potential. That is what the trust does, and we hope you will help us to deliver independence and a greater sense of self worth to these kids
