Parents Inc.

Volunteering Opportunities

Position:

Come and join us as a volunteer
Description:
Parents Inc. relies heavily on the generosity, skills and commitment of the team of approximately 1000 dedicated volunteers from around the country who deliver the Toolbox programme to their local communities and who form committees to coordinate and host seminars in their region.

Toolbox groups are run by approved volunteer facilitators who receive comprehensive training and have a formal appraisal process before becoming accredited. The groups are usually run by at least one facilitator and a host. The host is the person who often opens up their home for the duration of the course and supports the facilitator in running the group. A Toolbox facilitator contributes approximately 30 hours volunteer time per group and a Toolbox host approximately 21 hours per group.

Hot Tips seminars and No Sweat Parenting events are organised by local voluntary committees who are encouraged to involve schools, service clubs, early-childhood organisations and churches in the ownership and promotion of their event. These seminars and events rely heavily upon local involvement and networking and provide an ideal opportunity to strengthen the ties within a community. It forms part of a community’s response to its own needs.

We also have a team of approximately 30 dedicated volunteers who offer help and support at The Parenting Place – our Auckland based parenting resource centre.
