A very BIG thank-you from Parent to Parent
To the team at Sovereign Sunshine, and to all those who voted for us:
To say Parent to Parent is grateful for the opportunity given to us by Sovereign Sunshine would be the understatement of the year! Grateful, overwhelmed, ecstatic, excited and energised are words which would more accurately sum up how the team at Parent to Parent is feeling right now!
To have our work recognised in such a momentous way is truly humbling. We were one charity out of six equally worthy and wonderful groups, and all of them are deserving of the win. It is fantastic to be in the company of such great organisations which are all striving to make the lives of New Zealanders better in some way.
The funds will be put to very good use in providing SibSupport N.Z. programmes around the country, which cater for the specific needs of siblings who have a disabled brother or sister. The SibSupport N.Z. programme is very popular, but the cost of running it means that activities and camps do not happen as often we would like. The Sovereign Sunshine money will make it possible for more siblings aged between 8 – 18 years old, throughout New Zealand, to participate in a sibling activity in 2010.
