Sunshine Day
22 November 2011 - Sovereign's Human Resources and Strategy + Research and Risk team put together a great day filled with activities and hampers inspired by summer to raise money for @Heart on our most recent Sunshine Day, 9 November.
A sausage sizzle, bake sale, and hampers were all part of the day, and in total they helped to raise an additional $5,806 for @Heart, who were the recipients of the most votes in October's shortlisting.
13 October 2011 - Sovereign's Operations - Management team put together several amazing hampers, which were raffled off to raise money for Allergy NZ on our most recent Sunshine Day, 12 October.
The hampers went down like a treat! And, in total they helped to raise an additional $3,648.32 for Allergy NZ, who were the recipients of the most votes in September's shortlisting.
18 August 2011 - Do you remember the game ‘Guess Who?’ where through a series of questions, you try to guess your partners ‘character’. Well, we thought we would make our own version for our fundraising activity on our recent Sunshine Day. Staff were shown a selection of baby pictures, and for a donation, they could enter their guess on which baby picture belonged to which member of our senior management and executive leadership team. With a great selection of prize hampers available as well, the day was a success, and in the end we raised $3,593.60 for the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society (Inc).
18 July 2011 - At this time of the year, when winter comforts are the order of the day, we decided to include home-baked food and hand selected prize hampers in our fundraising for our June Sunshine winner this month - Youthline. With fantastic support from our technology partners, the prizes generated the highest amount of staff donations ever! All the funds we raised from our hamper raffles and home baked goods were matched by Sovereign as well, and will be given to Youthline ($5,779.20), as well as the donation they received from your votes ($3,450).
17 June 2011 - Rain and cold weather didn’t stop us from warmly supporting our latest Sunshine winner this month - Camp Quality. With fantastic culinary support from our local restaurant The Quarry, we served up over 200 cups of scrumptious soup – the aroma of roast tomato and capsicum, kumara and bacon, and roast pumpkin was delicious. All the funds we raised from our hamper raffles and winter soup warmers were matched by Sovereign, and will be given to Camp Quality ($2,887), as well as the donation they received from your votes ($3,200).
We’re very proud to be supporting Camp Quality and helping them to train the 750 volunteers and companions who work alongside the children. Camp Quality delivers week-long summer camps, family days, reunion days, mini-camps and social outings to support children living with cancer, and their families.
Through the fun and friendships of the camps, the kids gain a sense of overcoming the challenges that cancer brings by attending the camps and “just being kids”. The activities are combined with achievable challenges to allow the campers to get a sense of normality and independence, and focus on the positive aspects of their lives.
